Term 4, Week 2 2024
Hello Friends
A warm welcome to Term 4. I hope the term break was a positive one for your family. Hats need to be at school each day. Students who do not have hats on, need to play under the courtyard verandas. A large water bottle is also required. This can be re-filled throughout the day. It is beneficial for students to come with sunscreen already applied for the day can be reapplied again throughout the school day.
2025 Reception Transition
Last Friday we welcomed our 2025 studnets and families. They spent the morning ‘touring the school’ and completing activities in the classroom. They will be here every Friday from 8:45am till 10:45am moving to 8:45am till 11:30am in the second half of the term. Welcome

Thanks to our wonderful Parents and Friends group for organising the event and to our wonderful school community for supporting it. There will be opportunities for community members to win prizes on the night and for some of our fundraisers to be involved in ‘sliming a staff member’. It promises to be a fantastic event.
Uniform Try Ons
Students accompanied by a parent are able to come and try on a unform for sizing purposes on Monday mornings from 8.30am – 10.30am. Orders can be placed with the Uniform Shop staff or via the online link.

Term 4 Excitement
Term 4 always proves to be an exciting term full of events, celebrations and farewells.
I ask for your cooperation during the Term 4 period to make sure any excursion notes, permission slips etc. are completed and returned within the due dates. This makes planning and holding events an easier task. Thank you for your cooperation in this area.
Volunteers Clearance Documents
Now is a good time to ensure your Working with Children and Volunteer Clearance documents are in date. The end of the year and beginning of the year proves to be a very busy time for the screening unit so now is an opportune time to renew if needs be. Thank you for all of your volunteering work at our school.
Save the Date
Our Carols evening or “Carols on the Courts” will be held on Friday 29 November. Please save this date in your diary. More details surrounding this event will be sent out later this term.

This week communities around Australia celebrate World Teachers’ Day. We are fortunate to be blessed with a staff of educators who all impact our students and families in many positive ways. As a staff we take our role of walking with Jesus as central to our roles. Whether it is directly within a classroom, on yard duty, in an enrolment meeting, making budgeting decisions, providing first aid or looking after God’s creation each member of our staff walks in Jesus’ footsteps. The following words Taken from "Responding to God's Call" by Jesus Manaog goes some way in explaining that walking in Jesus’ footsteps in our school is more than a math class or reading practice.
The Teacher
He never taught a lesson in a classroom,
He had no tools to work with,
No blackboards, maps, or charts.
He used no subject outlines, kept no records,
Gave no grades, and His only text was
Ancient and well-worn.
His students were the poor, the lame,
The deaf, the blind, the outcasts, and sinners.
And His method was the same with all
Who came to hear and learn.
He opened eyes to faith,
He opened ears with simple truth
And borne of forgiveness.
A gentle man, a humble man,
He won no honors,
No gold awards of tribute to His expertise or wisdom.
And yet this quiet teacher from the hills of Galilee
Has fed the needs, fulfilled the hopes,
And changed the lives of many millions.
For what He taught, brought heaven to earth
And revealed God's heart to mankind.

ICAS ASSESSMENTS 2024
This year we introduced optional ICAS assessments for our students in Year 3-6. These are internationally recognised academic competitions that have been sat by over 10 million school students from 16,000 schools across 41 countries since 1981.
The assessments recognise academic performance in a way similar to sports or the arts, with engaging, fun questions designed by psychometricians, education measurement experts and experienced teachers to test students’ higher-order thinking skills.
They also provide rich insights into students’ strengths and weaknesses, helping teachers to accelerate learning outcomes and unlock student potential.
The ICAS assessments can be offered across many subject areas but this year we chose to offer English and Maths.
We had a number of Year 4 and 5 students take up the opportunity to participate with some excellent results.
We congratulate the following students:
