Term 3, Week 2 2023
Hello Friends
A very warm welcome back to families for Term 3. I trust you had a great term break with your family. It’s great to see our students back at CTK and jumping straight back into their learning.
CTK School Quiz Night
This fantastic event will occur in the School hall on 12 August. Demand for this event has been huge. If you require a ticket, they are now only available through the front office. Thank you to our community for your support of our school and this event. My thanks to the Parents and Friends group for their work in coordinating and hosting the event.
School Board Member
A vacancy currently exists as a Board Member on our Christ the King School board. If you would like some more information about the role, or would like to apply for that position, please do not hesitate in contacting the school via info@christking.catholic.edu.au or chair@christking.catholic.edu.au
CTK Café
A friendly reminder that the CTK café is open every Friday morning from 8:20 am until 8:45 am. Each Friday there will be two wonderful staff members who can make you a cup of tea or coffee and this is also a great opportunity to catch up with other parents from your class or our school community. I hope to see you there.
Thanks and blessings
Matt Perry
Just recently the church celebrated Grandparents and the Elderly Sunday. Grandparents and the Elderly are cherished members of our family and community. They bring wisdom, experience, love and share with us their faith. We thank God for their example and ask God to bless them with happiness and good health. A prayer and blessing was given to all grandparents and elderly in our community
Lord God almighty,
Bless our grandparents and elderly with long life, happiness and health.
May they remain constant in your love and be living signs of your presence to their children and grandchildren and all young people they meet.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
AMEN
VINNIE - Winter Appeal
Thank you to the families who did a winter clean out and have donated to our Winter Appeal. Donations will be taken to Vinnies on Friday so there is still time to send in a bag of donations.
SACRAMENTS- First Holy Communion
This weekend a group of our Year 5 students will receive their First Holy Communion. This is a culmination of nearly a year’s preparation beginning with their First Reconciliation in 2022.
All members of the community are invited to join with the parish at the 6pm Mass 5th and 10am Mass 6th August.
SACRAMENTS- Reconciliation
All students in Year 4 have received an enrolment form to begin their preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation (it used to be called Confession). This is the first step in preparing for the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion in 2024.
Please consider enrolling your child for their preparation, spare forms can be collected from myself or emailed home- tpascoe@christking.catholic.edu.au
COMMUNITY Mass 11th August
Our regular 1st Friday of the month mass has been rescheduled to Friday 11th August at 9am. The Year 1 Class will provide the readings and processions on the day. We encourage all members of our community to attend our masses.

BOOKWEEK PARADE
21st AUGUST 9am
Each family received a Book Week newsletter earlier this week. The newsletter was full of ideas for home made costumes and simple ways to put costumes together.
The parade at 9am is open to all visitors and we encourage siblings to come along dressed and excited about being part of the parade.
Another page of information will come home closer to the event with reminders, procedures and tips.
During the week there will also be other activities to enjoy and promote reading. The week will finish with a beanie and scarf day to celebrate our favourite book so far, of the books up for the CBCA Award- ‘Frank’s red Hat’.
CLASS LIBRARIES
Our library is always looking for clean preloved picture books and novels. Books donated will have a donation plaque placed in the front in recognition. Currently we are looking for books to stock class libraires, we are especially looking for series and books by the same author. We are also on the lookout for mysteries- Secret Seven, Hardy Boys etc. that have been rereleased with modern covers.
Teresa Pascoe
Teacher/Librarian
A warm welcome to our new students and families. Please say hello to them if you see them in the school yard.
Year 2 SM Alliteration Poem
During our Literacy lesson we worked as a whole class to compose our very own Alliteration poem. We used the first consonant sound of our Christian names to write our sentence. We had lots of fun. Happy Reading!
We are currently accepting enrolments for 2025 and beyond. Limited places are available for Reception 2024.
If you have younger children that are growing closer to starting school, we encourage you to start thinking about enrolling them now.
It's never too early to enrol your child and spaces in our classes are filling fast.
Sibling discounts also apply to when multiple children from the same family are enrolled.
To secure your child's enrolment, please make an appointment with Principal Matthew Perry where he can get to know more about your child.
