Term 3, Week 10 2023
Hello Friends
With the holidays only days away, I take this opportunity to thank families for their support during the term of our school and our community.
I hope that the holidays provide an opportunity for some downtime and opportunities for connectedness and spending time with family and loved ones. Whether it be a camping trip, interstate holiday, a walk along the beach or a visit to the local library. I hope that the holidays provide some downtime from what are busy lives for us all.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS MUSIC FESTIVAL
I remind our community that our Yr 6 and Yr 5 Choir will be performing at the Catholic Schools Music Festival and will be a part of the approximately 350 strong Catholic Schools Music Festival Choir performing at the Adelaide Festival Theatre on Friday night 29 September from 7:30 pm.
PICK UP OF STUDENTS AFTER SCHOOL
I have noticed an increase in the number of vehicles once again stopping in the road to collect students and students crossing the road without due care to enter vehicles. I remind community members that SAPOL Police patrols frequent the area, monitoring motorists’ behaviour. Most important is the safety of all of our community members.
ASSEMBLY
There is no scheduled assembly for this week. Our fantastic assemblies will reconvene in Term 4 and a schedule will sent out early in Term 4.
Remember to put your clocks 1 hour forward on Sunday 1 October.

WMOF is the acronym for World Meeting of Families, founded by Pope John Paul II in 1994. The United Nations declared the “International Year of the Family” in 1994 and as a response, Pope John Paul II incorporated this celebration of family within our Church by creating the first World Meeting of Families in Rome that October. It has since been held every 3 years in different places around the world. WMOF was first promoted by the Pontifical Council for the Family, which later merged with the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life. The event has always started and concluded with an international Theological-Pastoral Congress, in the presence of the Pope, along with a Vigil and Festival of Families and a great final Eucharistic celebration. Pope Francis wants all families ot know he holds you in his tender heart, here is the prayer shared for families that are the backbone of the Christ the king community.
Dear families,
I invite you to continue the journey, listening to the Father who calls you.
Be missionaries along the highways and byways of the world.
Do not walk alone.
You young families, be guided by those who know the way.
You who are farther along, be companions on the way for others.
You who are lost because of difficulties, do not be overcome by sadness.
Trust in the love that God has placed in you.
Plead daily with the Spirit to revive that love.
Joyfully proclaim the beauty of being family.
Proclaim to children and young people the grace of Christian matrimony.
Give hope to those who have none.
Act as if everything depended on you, knowing that everything must be entrusted to God.
Be the ones to sew the fabric of society and Church, creating relationships,
multiplying love and life.
Be signs of the living Christ.
Do not be afraid of what the Lord asks of you, nor of being generous with God.
Open yourselves to Christ.
Listen to him in the silence of prayer.
Accompany those who are more fragile.
Carry those who are alone: refugees, abandoned.
Be the seed of a more accepting world.
Be families with large hearts.
Be the welcoming face of the Church.
May Mary Our Mother come to your aid when there is no more wine.
May she be a companion in the moments of silence and trial.
May she help you to walk together with her risen Son.
Amen.
