Hello Friends
Well, that’s almost a warp on 50 school days for Term 3. Please visit the school website to learn about the roll out of the new school uniform and the days where sizing and ‘try ons’ are available.
This term we have seen:
- Assemblies
- Masses
- Sporting Carnivals
- Principals Tours
- Book Week Parade
- Fathers’ Day stall and BBQ
- Parent Teacher interviews
- Class Buddy Activities

- Grand friends Day
- And the Yr. 6s will take part in the Catholic Schools Music Festival.

I trust that the term break provides an opportunity to catch a breath and recharge, ready for Term 4.

Our new uniform is finally here!
After gathering your feedback and creating a design reflecting both the requests of our community and the comfort of students, we are thrilled to announce our new school uniform is ready.
We believe this new look will help everyone feel proud to represent our school. We know you have been eagerly anticipating the launch of this new uniform so we have created a fact sheet which is attached to this post.
This fact sheet will help give you a clear idea of when you can start ordering new uniform items and when they’ll be ready. The fact sheet also lists some answers to some frequently asked questions that you may have.

Last week we had a joyous day of celebration here at Chris the King. We began the day with Grandfriends Day and finished later that night with our school disco. Yesterday we had a visit from members of the Marion Brass Band sharing their skills and musical talents. At one point they invited the students to join in if they recognised the song. The hall was silent until the chorus of ‘Sweet Caroline’ and suddenly there was a thunderous sound as the students and staff all belted it out. Tonight out Yr. 6 students will perform at the Catholic School Music Festival as part of the combined choir. To hear these students sing a wide variety of song from popular favourites to deeper religious songs send a shiver up the spine.
So singing is an important element of our community and by that extension it is during our liturgical celebrations. However, when we gather us adults feel reluctant to sing and join in the responses.
The question of whether Catholics have to sing is sometimes thwarted by our feelings. Do we wonder how people will tolerate (or not) our singing voices? Do we wonder to whom the song is addressed or for what purpose we sing? IS the singing just for the students?
The Second Vatican Council teaches in Sacrosanctum Concilium (The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy) that all who are present at Mass should fully and actively participate. This participation makes Christ truly present in the celebration of the liturgy, in the same manner as he is present in the word, the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), and the celebrant.
In our participation in word and song, Christ is revealed and made present to us. Our singing serves as a crucial part of the greater mystery we are celebrating Christ’s sacrifice being united to the Father through the Holy Spirit. Why sing and do actions at Mass? To make this a reality!
But Christ always invites us to enter into song, to rise above our own preoccupations, and to give our entire selves to the song. Liturgies without song are often solemn affairs and that is not what we want in out community. I invite you to join in next time you are with us and offer a quote often attributed to St Augustine “To sing is to pray twice”.
