Term 2, Week 4 2024
Hello Friends
I trust the cooler weather is treating you and your family kindly and that families have been able to dodge the many types of illnesses that are going around at present. To that end, if your child has any symptoms of cold or flu like illnesses, please refrain from sending them to school. We still encourage hygiene practices here at school with sanitiser available in the classrooms. If your child presents with any symptoms of illness in the morning before leaving for school, it is highly unlikely that these symptoms will dissipate during the school day. Thank you for your cooperation in this important area.
Traffic Safety around our School
The car park on Walkley Tce at the rear of the school is designated for Staff members’ cars. Please refrain from parking in these spaces.
I have also witnessed cars stopping in the middle of the road to allow children to enter or exit from the vehicles which is a dangerous practice for everyone concerned. Please find a suitable parking spot to allow children to enter and exit vehicles.
Please remember to observe parking restrictions around our school including yellow lines which indicate a no parking zone and residents’ driveways which cannot be parked across.
If community members need to cross on Dunrobin Road, then please use the school crossing. This is the safest place to cross Dunrobin Road which is a busy place at school drop off and pick up times with many cars travelling past the school at these times of the day.
SACPSSA
Congratulations to our Yr 3 to 6 students who competed recently in the South Australian Catholic Primary Schools Sports Association Lacrosse Carnival held at West Beach on Monday. I would like to thank the staff for their coordination of the event and for the many parent volunteers who made the day possible. Well done to our students on a very competitive day.
Volunteering at School
At CTK, we say thank you to our community volunteers who give up their time to make events possible, such as school excursions, sports excursions and school events. It is important however that parents and community members wishing to volunteer at our school have the necessary documentation and paperwork completed prior to the volunteering taking place. Please contact the front office to find out the processes and paperwork concerned to volunteer at our school before taking part in a voluntary capacity.
Once again thank you for community members’ commitment to our school and our students.
School Board Talk
At the School Board meeting held last Wednesday 15 May, the feedback from the uniform consultation process was analysed and addressed. The Board has taken into consideration the feedback points and will act on as many as possible and practicable. As community members can appreciate it will be impossible to please every single point of feedback and every single person in our community.
The CTK School Board is committed to providing a uniform that suits the needs of our community and aims to provide a contemporary and practical uniform for our students to wear.
The Board will approach the uniform supplier to adjust the prototype to include suggestions made by the feedback process.
The Board would like to thank community members for the input into this process and for their interest and commitment to our school and our students.

This week we have celebrated Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit and with it the many gifts and strengths we can call upon.
As a school each week, we have marked the Season of Lent (40 days) and the Season of Easter (50 days) with whole school prayer usually on Fridays.
As Pentecost marks the end of Easter we will not hold our weekly whole school prayer, however, classes will continue to meet for class prayer each day and we will gather for whole school prayers and masses for major events in the calendar.
We are also fortunate that we were allotted next Thursday (30th May) as our celebration of Confirmation for some of our Yr. 5 students. The coming of the Holy Spirit during Confirmation is a major step in these children’s faith journey.
I offer you this beautiful Pentecost Prayer at this time.
Pentecost Prayers Come Holy Spirit, Enter our silences.
Come Holy Spirit, Into the depths of our longing.
Come Holy Spirit, Our friend and our lover.
Come Holy Spirit, Unmask our pretending.
Come Holy Spirit, Expose our lives.
Come Holy Spirit, Sustain our weakness.
Come Holy Spirit, Redeem our creation.
Enter our trusting,
Enter our fearing,
Enter our letting go,
Enter our holding back.
Flood our barren spaces,
Make fertile our deserts within,
Break us and heal us, Liberator of desires.
Come Holy Spirit, Embrace us and free us.

CONFIRMATION
The Vicar General will confirm Confirmation on those who have been preparing.
Their Confirmation will take place Thursday 30th May, 7pm. All of the community are welcome to attend and support these children at St Joseph’s Church.
WAYS TO PRAY- A SERIES
Say What You Need
In Jesus’ time, bread was a staple- one of the most basic needs of life – and he did not hesitate to ask God to provide it. Having a conversation with God about your life, struggles and needs is a major reason we pray. Do not think lightly of the conversation, ask, talk and discuss needs with God.

Change of Clothes
As the weather is changing we ask that you please ensure your child has a spare set of pants, underpants and socks in their bag should it be required.
We do have a small supply of clothes for accidents however, not always in sizes that fit every child.
Should your child be sent home in a spare set from school we ask that you please wash and return to the office so that we can use again.
