Term 1, Week 7 2024
Hello friends
A late summer has certainly made its presence felt around the place over the last couple of weeks. However, we were fortunate that it didn’t interrupt our lunch or recess times here at school.
Annual General Meeting
Last Wednesday, we had our school AGM, and it was great to hear community feedback regarding the following topics.
- Capital expenditure
- Year six graduate qualities
- Learning curriculum
- Community engagement
If you were unable to attend the AGM, there will be an opportunity for you to complete some feedback for regarding these areas via the school website.
Uniform
Be on the lookout for our uniform prototypes that will be on display over the next couple of weeks, and we will be inviting community consultation feedback regarding what our new uniform will look like.
Playground
Over the past week, staff and students have been invited to provide feedback regarding the new playground design and the final version of these will be made available to the community. As soon as they are ready construction of the new playground will begin. We hope this will be at the end of Term 2.
Sports Day.
Sports day occurs this Friday 15 March and we look forward to seeing you there.
Please remember students need to be dressed in the school, sports uniform, sneakers, socks and shorts/tracksuit pants and a plain coloured top that matches their team colour.
We are looking forward to a fantastic day, full of sports skills and best efforts on the field.
Our team captains for the day
Blue: Madi and Tawana
Green: Sam and Neve
Gold: Chris and Macy
We can congratulate these students on being our team captains for the day and wish them all the best.

We are approaching the end of Lent and looking forward to the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. The classes have draped their prayer spaces in purple and displayed their Lenten promises’ bowls in the space. Each Friday we have gathered to reinforce the message of Lent and pray together. We will end our Lent with the traditional Yr 6 commemoration of the Stations of the Cross (see below).
Lent is a way to lead us to prayer. Below I have included a way to prayer. This series will continue into the midyear with various ways to engage in prayer or conversations with your God.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS- Yr 6
Holy Thursday 28th March
Each year it is traditional for our Yr6 students to commemorate Jesus’ last day on earth with a production of The Stations of the Cross. The production through tableaux and prayer retells the station from Jesus arrest through to his placement in the tomb. This is a solemn production but one that never fails to move those present. All members of the community are invited to join with our students and staff, please be seated by 2.20 pm in the Hall.
WAYS TO PRAY- A SERIES
Know to whom you are speaking
Prayer is a conversation with God, and every conversation begins by addressing the person to whom you are speaking by name. Jesus begins with ‘Our Father’. He focuses on a distinct person- the Heavenly God with whom he has a personal relationship with. We have the right to call God, Father/ Mother/Abba whatever the times call for. Begin your conversation with the name you need at the time.
Fourth Week of Lent
(Week beginning Monday 11 March)
Samoa may be a country surrounded by water, but access to clean drinking water is scarce in some areas, with many families facing extreme hardship as a result. Leaia lives with her five children, husband, brother and sister-in-law on the island of Upolu in Samoa. Not having access to a reliable source of clean water caused Leaia a lot of worry. Their home is not connected to a piped water system, so they had to rely solely on rainwater collected in old fridges. When their water ran out, Leaia had to walk with her young children to collect water in buckets and containers from a neighbour down the street. With the support of Caritas Australia's local partner, Caritas Samoa, a water tank was installed at Leaia's home. She and her family now have a steady supply of clean drinking water at home. Next year, they will also have a toilet built, with the support of Caritas Samoa, which will further improve their health and living conditions. “We are very thankful and grateful for the water tank. It has helped us so much and made our daily life easier,” Leaia said. Watch Leaia’s Story
